The Rawson surname comes from the Norman given name Ralph, which was derived from the Old French Raol. It is closely related to the names Rolf, Raoul, and Ralf. Apparently brought to England via the massive movement of people during the Norman Conquest of 1066.
While the name itself has a rich and easy to discover history, our own Rawson history is completely unknown. These pages will make for a quick and dull read, I'm afraid. I urge anyone with information on this family to contact us.
Hannah Rawson 1808 - 1882
Hannah was born in 1808 in England. Numerous family trees claim her parents were Jonas Rawson and Elizabeth Ash, but none provide any sources or documents to support this, so her parents remain unknown. In 1831, Hannah married John Crowfoot, and the two had three children.
